CURRENT MOON

Hello to all Arkansas Chapter Directors,

Derrell and I are the GWRRA International Public Relation Coordinators and we are offering you all an opportunity to "BRAG". Brag about something your Chapter is doing, has done, or will be doing or maybe a Couple tht is doing something great to put GWRRA in the public eye.

Each month we publish an International Public Relations Newsletter and we would love to spotlight your Chapter. If you would like to brag about your Chapter (and I am sure that there is something you would like the Organization and Public to know about your Chapter), please send me an article that I could put in the Newslettter.

For past issues (to see what it is all about) please go to our Member Enhancement Division Web Site and check out the wealth of information there for your use. Go to: http://www.gwrra.org/regional/med and click on Public Relations. This will bring up the Public Relations Web Site and all past issues of the Newsletter. I think you will enjoy the newsletters.

Regards,
June and Derrell Agee

Hello to all Arkansas Chapter Directors,

My name is June Agee, International Public Relations Coordinator. We are working diligently to get the Public Relations Program up and running again and I need all your help in accomplishing this task. Public Relations is a very important aspect of GWRRA, not only for the Organization but the Region, District, and Chapters.

Public Relations is not only the art of getting information to the news medias as previously thought, but also to our Members. What better way to get the word out about GWRRA and all the Organization's benefits than through Chapter Public Relation Coordinators.

I would like to ask your consideration in appointing a Public Relations Coordinator in your Chapter as soon as possible (let's set a date of Feb. 1,2005) and sending me a list of their name, address, telephone number and email address. Your District Public Relations Coordinator is Sue Farmer and I would ask you to please copy her in on your replies.

I am attaching a letter that I have sent out to other Districts and Chapters explaining what I see for the Public Relations Program and what the Public Relations Coordinators would be doing. As I said before, the program will not only help the Chapter grow, but the District, Region and the Organization as a whole.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at nprc@gwrra.org or d.agee@sbcglobal.net

Thank you for your time and help.
June Agee

Chapter Public Relation Coordinators

Now that you have already or are thinking of accepting the Public Relation Coordinator’s position, you may be asking yourself just what should, or will, you be doing. We all know that Public Relations is presenting an organization (in our case the Gold Wing Road Riders Association) to the public in a positive manner, but I would like to explain what I, as the International Public Relations Coordinator, also have in mind for this position.

We as Public Relation Coordinator’s will not only educate the public through our news releases, notifications of our monthly socials, mall shows, etc., but our existing and potential new Members. In your local Chapter you may have a greeter, a person who welcomes the new or potential new Member, at the monthly socials. After they are welcomed, they sit there and wonder what is going on. Well, this is where the Chapter Public Relation Coordinator’s can become a great asset to the chapter.

As the Chapter Public Relation Coordinator, sit with these new or potential new Members, and explain what is happening or being talked about during the social. Explain the 50/50 drawing, what we mean by an ice cream ride, dinner ride, impromptu ride, Wing Ding, District Rallies, Rider Education Courses, how to obtain patches, shirts, etc. Tell them of all the “FUN” you have spending time together. Remember that these people are there to understand what we are all about.

Their questions, or lack of questions, may be the difference in them staying with the Chapter and the Organization or walking away. We want them to be excited about joining our organization and participating with our Chapter.

Each month try to get an article in your Chapter’s Newsletter. In this article let the participants know what you have arranged to get the Chapter in the limelight and include something about GWRRA and the benefit’s they have or will receive with their membership. Explain the Rescue Plus Program, the Recruiting incentive (get three new members and receive a free years membership), etc. We could go on forever explaining benefits of a GWRRA Membership. The Couple of the Year is selected at the end of the year, so why not explain this program in an upcoming newsletter? Let everyone know what an honor it is to be selected the Chapter Couple of the Year and how your Chapter selects their Couple of the Year.

While educating the public and our Members, make it “FUN” for everyone. Ask for input from your Chapter participants. Ask them what they would like to hear about or if they have questions you could answer or get the answers if you were not sure.

There is a wealth of information about all our programs on the Member Enhancement Web Site http://www.gwrra.org/regional/med. If you can’t find what you need please contact your Region Public Relation Coordinators. We are here to serve you.

Thanks for your help,
June and Derrell Agee
